A Good Day to Harvest Sticks!

I stepped out to survey the yard on a bright clear day in January. Each blade of grass was coated in a thin sprinkle of frost. On the ground lay my prunings of the week before: saplings, red branches of dogwood, and a 20-ft. tree that was growing in the parking strip. I bundled up the sapling sticks and took them to a storage area beside my backyard shed. They will make good plant supports, trellises, and uprights to weave vines through for wattle fences. I love these straight strong sticks and would never throw them out.
